CLASSROOM POLICIES
Grades: In mathematics, 3 categories are averaged together for your grade. 10% is homework. 35% is assessments. 55% is classwork. Your progress can be monitored online using Family Portal.
Family Portal can be reached by going to www.hcpss.org and clicking on the Green Family Portal box on the right. You will need your student number found in your Monday Folder information given out on the first day of school to set up an account as well as the authorization code that was mailed to your primary residence in early August. Please contact me if you need further assistance.
Math Classroom Materials: Each day, every student needs to bring to class a composition book, homework previously assigned, a pen, and wooden #2 pencils. All work is completed in pencil unless otherwise specified. Your math textbook can be left at home. Your math composition book should travel with you to class and home to aid in notetaking and homework.
Math Textbooks: These will be passed out on August 28 and 29, 2014. Keep the textbook at home for use with homework until June 2015. If you lose your textbook, you will need to pay for the textbook before receiving a replacement textbook. If you locate your original textbook, the money paid can be returned to you provided you have the receipt.
Math Homework: Homework assignments should be completed by using a pencil, copying the problem, showing all steps or using complete sentences, and writing an answer for each. Homework is due the next class period unless given a different due date in class. If absent, the student should bring in homework from the last day he/she was in class and make up the missed assignments.
Curriculum: Grade 6 Common Core Mathematics as well as additional information for this school year can be found at the following website: https://grade6commoncoremath.wikispaces.hcpss.org/
Mathematics will be documenting levels on the mid-year and end of the year report cards. The requirements for A (above grade level), O (on grade level), and B (below grade level) are outlined in a document that will be provided later this school year.
